The Attentive Stranger

In twenty years of work as an artist, Mats Staub has developed highly individual working methods and formats that occupy the territory in between theatre and the visual arts, journalism and literature, borrowing strategies from each of these disciplines. The monograph The Attentive Stranger (which will be published in spring 2025) presents projects that have grown over lengthy periods and on various continents in relation to each other and to contexts in the arts and beyond. The book is composed as a reflection of Mat’s Staub’s way of working: attentive listening and scrupulous editing are its core elements–as is the wonderful polyphony that emerges from working together with so many different people in several languages.
